LC State Dominates CCC Weekly Awards with Four Honorees

CORVALLIS, Ore. â€“ A strong week for LC State Athletics was rewarded with four Cascade Conference WVT Laboratory Athletes of the Week. Clayton VanDyke and Emily Adams earned Track Athletes of the Week honors, Callie Stevens was tabbed the Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, and Trent Sellers garnered Pitcher of the Week accolades.

CLAYTON VANDYKE – MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

VanDyke continued to rewrite the LC State record books with a phenomenal showing in the 800m on Friday. The senior bested his own record in the event by nearly two seconds with a time of 1:50.53, currently the fastest time in the NAIA this season. He also anchored the 4x400m relay team.

This is the ninth conference weekly honor for VanDyke, and third this season. He has been voted the NAIA Indoor Track Athlete of the Week twice.

EMILY ADAMS – WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Adams earned a provisional time in the 3000m run at the WSU Open on Saturday. The fifth-year senior's time of 10:24.89 put her in the top half of the field filled with NCAA Division I competition.

This is the fifth conference weekly honor for Adams, and first this season.

LC State Track and Field competes in the final indoor meet of the regular season this weekend at the Whitworth Invitational.

CALLIE STEVENS – WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

The Cascade's leading scorer improved her points per game average over the weekend to help lead the Warriors to two big victories. The sophomore averaged 28.5 points between the two contests, with 27 in the win over C of I, and a career-high 30 points in the biggest win of the season against EOU. The Puyallup, Wash., native shot an efficient 63.6 percent from the floor and 42.9 percent from 3-point range. She went 9-for-10 from the free throw line and drained six 3s. Stevens also dished nine assists and had three steals. Saturday's victory put LC in a tie for first in the CCC and earned Brian Orr his 500th-career win.

This the second conference weekly honor for Stevens, with both coming this season.

The No. 22 Warriors host Walla Walla on Tuesday night before heading to Bushnell and Corban this weekend.
