CORVALLIS, Ore. – Two LC State Baseball players earned WVT Laboratory Cascade Conference Athlete of the Week honors after another series sweep for the Warriors over the weekend. Greg Blackman and Justin Mazzone played key roles for third-ranked LC State in the four victories over the College of Idaho Yotes to help push the winning streak to 21 games. 

Blackman is the third LC pitcher to earn the award, and Mazzone is the third Warrior to bring home Player of the Week this season.

GREG BLACKMAN– BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Blackman earned his fourth win of the season when he came out of the bullpen for 5.1 innings of work against College of Idaho on Friday. The junior from La Grande, Ore., struck out five and did not allow a run or walk a batter in his outing.

This is the first weekly honor for Blackman.

JUSTIN MAZZONE – BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Mazzone totaled 10 hits in 17 at bats (.588) in the four-game series, including a pair of four-hit games. He drove in three runs and scored four with one stolen base. The senior from Huntington Beach, Calif. slugged .765 with two doubles and threw out one runner trying to steal.

This is the first weekly honor for Mazzone.

The Warriors travel to Ellensburg, Wash., on Thursday for a doubleheader with NCAA Division II Central Washington starting at noon.
