MARION, Ind. – The LC State Men's Tennis team battled its way to the team's seventh straight win with a 4-3 defeat of Judson (Ill.) to open the IWU Invitational on Thursday. After dropping the doubles point, the Warriors rallied to edge the Eagles with four singles victories.
"These kinds of thrillers make for a memorable trip," Head Coach
Kai Fong said. "The entire team rallied throughout the match and stayed mentally tough. We are getting more and more experienced with each match, and that is always good to see."
Itaru Kikuchi evened the match 1-1 with his quick 6-2, 6-1 victory in No. 2 singles. Judson jumped back in front after taking the third and fourth singles matches, but
William Bruchard brought LC within one with his three-set win in the top singles spot.
Daniel Tevez brought the score to a 3-3 tie with his strong win at No. 6 singles (6-2, 6-1), and
Matus Rusnak ended things a minute later with his come-from-behind victory in fifth singles.
