VANCOUVER, B.C. – Greg Blackman shut out the UBC Thunderbirds through the final 3.2 innings of Friday's series opener, but the Warrior bats were silent in a 4-0 loss in Cascade Conference play. Four runs through the first three innings were all British Columbia needed to shut out LC State.

With the loss, the Warriors are 18-5 overall and 3-2 in Cascade Conference play.

Back-to-back doubles by UBC got the Thunderbirds off to a hot start in the bottom of the first. British Columbia scored twice in the first and added a two-run blast in the third.

LC State threatened in the fourth with a double by Isaiah Thomas, but the runner was left stranded.

Blackman took over on the mound in the fifth and shut UBC down for the remainder of the contest. He struck out the first two batters he faced.

The Warriors threatened once more in the eighth with singles by Jakob Marquez and Carter Booth, but UBC worked out of the jam to keep LC off the board.

Blackman finished the contest with five strikeouts in 3.2 innings. Dallas McGill also fanned five in his 4.1 innings and gave up four runs on five hits. Thomas tallied two of LC's five hits.
