SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – The Warrior Men's Golf team battled back on Tuesday to break a tie with Oregon Tech for second place at the Bushnell Invitational. The first tournament of the season, held at Pine Ridge Golf Club in Springfield, Ore., saw three LC State golfers finish in the top 10. Senior Oscar Behle led the group with a tie for fifth place.
 
"The men had a lot better consistency today," Head Coach Zach Anderson said. "We leaked a bit coming in, but overall, a better day. Lots of work to be done, but we will take the positives and move on."
 
Behle, Alex Navarro and Luke West all carded rounds of 1-over, 73 in the final 18 holes. The mark is the best by a Warrior on the weekend and lifted Behle to a tie for fifth place after round of 75-74 the day before. He finished the front nine 1-under with a pair of birdies and added one more on the 12^th hole. Behle earned a three-round total of 6-over, 222.
 
Navarro was three strokes back of Behle to tie for eighth. His round of 73 was the opposite of Behle with a 1-under back nine. The senior carded two birdies on the front and two on the back to bring his two-day total to 9-over, 225. Kye Krall, the Warrior leader after day one, stumbled out of the gate before evening out late in the round. He carded a 79 to finish tied for 10^th at 10-over, 226.
 
West, one of three Warrior with a 73 on the day, was consistent throughout his round. With a pair of birdies on holes 6 and 14, the sophomore placed tied for 15^th with the second-best score of his career (227). Sondre Andresen shot a 77 to finish with a three-round score of 234 to tie for 24^th.
 
No. 6 British Columbia swept the team and individual awards. The Thunderbirds won the tournament by 30 strokes and Aidan Schumer took home medalist honors with an impressive 5-under, 211. All five UBC golfers were in the top 10 and four were in the top five.
 
UP NEXT
The Warrior men are off next week to regroup ahead of the OUAZ Fall Invitational in Surprise, Ariz. The tournament will run Sept. 30-Oct. 1.
