SALEM, Ore. – The LC State Men's Golf team, receiving votes in the national poll, jumped two spots on Sunday with one of the lowest rounds of the tournament at the Willamette Valley Cup. The Warriors finished tied for fourth, led by senior
Sondre Andresen's top-10 finish.
"The men responded well today," coach
Zach Anderson said. "We will take what we learned into the next two days playing at home for the first time this spring. Excited to be back in the Valley."
LC State shot 283 as a team for the fourth-best round of the weekend. The Warriors tied with fellow Cascade Conference team Bushnell (Ore.) for fourth place with a score of 5-over.
Andresen made a massive jump in the standings on Sunday when he moved up 17 spots to a tie for ninth. He shot 2-under after a 2-over round on Saturday to finish even-par for the tournament.
Freshman
Andrea Artusini tied for 19
th just two strokes back of Andresen in the tight race. He shot even on the day and was 2-over on the weekend.
Lucas Ortega was one stroke off Artusini in a tie for 22
nd at 3-over.
Adam Lovatt and
Luke West finished tied for 29
th at 4-over for the tournament. West made a 16-spot jump after a round of 1-under, 70 on Sunday and Lovatt was 2-over.
UP NEXT
The Warriors do not take a break and are back on the course on Monday to open The Warrior Spring Classic at Red Wolf Golf Club in Clarkston. Teams will tee off at 8:30 a.m.
