Warrior Baseball Drops Midweek Matchup at Warner

LAKE WALES, Fla. – The No. 7 LC State Baseball team took on Warner (Fla.) in a midweek matchup and fell to the Royals by a final of 11-4. Noah Weintraub put the Warriors in front in the sixth with a three-run blast, but Warner answered with eight runs in the eighth to take control.

The loss drops LC State to 2-3 on the young season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Warner struck first with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first before LC State answered with one in the top of the second. Seth Nelson walked, and Bulla Ephan was hit by a pitch before a wild pitch put two in scoring position. Ike George singled to bring the Warriors within one.

Evan Canfield worked a 1-2-3 bottom of the fourth with a strikeout and fanned two more in the fifth.

Defending Cascade Conference Player of the Week Weintraub belted the first home run of his career to put LC State in front in the top of the sixth. Ephan and Anthony Karagiannopoulos notched back-to-back singles to start the frame and George put two in scoring position with a sacrifice bunt. Weintraub made it 4-2 in favor of LC State with his three-run shot to center.

Ephan cut down a runner trying to steal second in the home half of the sixth, but Warner added a run in the seventh. Jackson Cloud came out of the bullpen to end the threat and keep the lead at 4-3.

The Royals took the lead in the bottom of the eighth with a big eight-run frame. Warrior pitching allowed seven free passes and a grand slam as Warner blew the game wide open.
