2025 Season Ends for LC State Baseball

LEWISTON, Idaho – The 2025 LC State Baseball season came to an end on Wednesday with a 7-6 loss to Wayland Baptist (Texas) in the NAIA Opening Round, presented by Avista. The Warriors led heading into the ninth inning, but a late rally allowed the Pioneers to walk off the contest.

LC State finished the season with a record of 36-16.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first inning by Jackson Cloud, the Warriors put up three runs in the top of the second to take an early lead. Jakob Marquez led off with a double and an error put Brandon Cabrera on base as well. Dominic Signorelli walked to load the bases and a sacrifice fly by Izzy Madariaga plated the first run of the game.

Bull Ephan kept the inning going with a double down the right field line to drive in a pair for the 3-0 edge.

Wayland Baptist answered with a solo shot by Samuel Fabian in the home half of the inning to cut into the lead, but LC State had two more come across in the third.

Charlie Updegrave and Marquez walked to start the top of the third and Cabrera singled to load the bases. A base hit by Madariaga brought in two for a 5-0 lead.

The Pioneers rallied for three runs in the bottom of the inning to make it a one-run game, but Robby Butenschoen struck out the side in the bottom of the fourth to get LC State out of a jam.

Madariaga pushed the lead back to 6-4 in the fifth with a home run off the videoboard in right field and Butenschoen held WBU off the board in the sixth and seventh. Solid defensive plays by Signorelli helped the Warriors out of the bottom of the seventh with just one run allowed.
