Weintraub Walks it Off – Warrior Baseball Wins CCC Tournament Title

VANCOUVER, B.C. – Noah Weintraub delivered the walk-off base hit in the bottom of the ninth to clinch LC State Baseball's first Cascade Conference tournament title since 2022. The Warriors defeated top-seeded No. 24 British Columbia 7-6 on its home field to win the 2025 Cascade Conference Baseball Championship, presented by U.S. Bank, on Sunday.
 
Kolby Solomon was lights out in relief and Jake Green earned the win with a spotless final frame. Jakob Marquez led the charge at the plate for the Warriors in the win.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Marquez homered for the second straight game to give the Warriors the lead in the bottom of the first. Jack Sheward and Charlie Updegrave notched back-to-back singles before Marquez blasted a three-run shot to center for a 3-0 lead.
 
LC State starter Robby Butenschoen struck out two in his first two scoreless innings and the Warriors grew their lead in the second.
 
A two-out error put Sheward on base in the bottom of the second before he scored on a double off the bat of Updegrave to make it 4-0.
 
UBC cut the difference to one run in the top of the third with a three-run homer by Trent Lenihan. The Thunderbirds threatened again in the fourth and Solomon came out of the bullpen with two outs. The junior made two strong defensive plays before another groundout got the Warriors out of a jam with the 4-3 intact.
 
Bulla Ephan grew the LC State advantage to 5-3 with a home run in the home half of the fourth.
 
Freshman Levi Anderson took over on the mound in the top of the seventh and struck out his first two batters. UBC rallied to plate a run a run in the inning before Jackson Could game in and limited the damage with the Warriors in front 5-4.
 
LC State got the run back in the bottom of the seventh. Marquez doubled and was lifted for pinch runner Anthony Karagiannopoulos. A base hit up the middle by Brandon Cabrera pushed the margin to 6-4.
 
UBC answered in the top of the eighth with a two-run bomb by David Draayers to make it a 6-6 ball game. The Warriors were held off the board in the bottom of the inning to send the game into the ninth tied.
 
Green, who came in during the eighth to get the Warriors out of the inning, sat the Thunderbirds down in order in the ninth to bring LC State back to the plate.
 
Marquez doubled to put a runner in scoring position and Garrett Bevacqua took over on the bases. Cabrera was intentionally walked and both advanced on a wild pitch. Dominic Signorelli walked to load the bases, and Weintraub delivered with a walk-off base hit to end the game and give the Warriors the tournament title.

Marquez and Cabrera each notched three hits, and Marquez drove in three runs. Cabrera stole two bases and Sheward scored twice.
 
Green earned the win with his 1.2 scoreless innings. He did not allow a hit or walk a batter. Butenschoen, Solomon, Anderson and Cloud all chipped in on the mound.
 
UP NEXT
The Warriors will host an NAIA Opening Round, presented by Avista, May 12-15 at Harris Field.
