LE MARS, Iowa – The No. 25 LC State Women's Golf team sits in fourth place in a competitive field after the first two rounds of the Northwest Iowa National Invitational on Monday.
Jane Barry is off to another stellar start and is tied for ninth with freshman
Taylor Mire not far behind.
"It was a very up and down day for the women," coach
Zach Anderson said. "In both rounds they had a tough finish but for the most part there was a lot of solid golf. Jane continues to play some really sound golf and I could not be more proud of the way she has improved her mindset on the course."
No. 5 Texas Wesleyan leads the field by 14 strokes, followed by No. 12 Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) and No. 10 Oklahoma City.
Barry is tied for ninth with an even-par score after rounds of 73-71. She carded three birdies on the day to lead the Warrior women. Freshman
Taylor Mire is off to a strong start one stroke back of Barry at 1-over on rounds of 71-74.
Sophomore
Isabella Barquet is tied for 30
th at 12-over. She started strong with a round of 74 before a tough 82 in her second 18 holes.
Dallis Shockey and
Chase Caruso are tied for 32
nd with matching scores of 13-over. Shockey carded rounds of 77-80 and Caruso shot 83-74.
UP NEXT
The competitive NAIA tournament concludes with the final round on Tuesday.
