VANCOUVER, B.C. – No. 21 LC State Baseball suffered its second consecutive loss to No. 10 British Columbia on Saturday to fall behind in the four-game series 2-1. The Thunderbirds rallied late to defeat the Warriors 8-5 in Vancouver.
Bo Stinson homered in the contest.
The Warriors' record falls to 7-2 overall and 1-2 in Cascade Conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
UBC struck first with a two-run home run in the bottom of the second inning. LC State answered with a solo shot by Stinson in the next half-inning.
Jackson Cloud settled in for quick frames in the third and fourth, and an RBI triple off the bat of Zeller after a hit by
Jordan Justice evened the score 2-2.
Four UBC hits in the fifth off Cloud and reliever
Mason Goodson led to a 5-2 deficit.
The Warriors put together a three-run top of the sixth to even the score.
Izzy Madariaga led off with a double and scored on a base hit by
Anthony Karagiannopoulos.
Kason O'Neil drew a walk and
Brandon Nguyen singled to plate a run. Free passes to Stinson and
Spencer Zeller evened the contest 5-5.
A walk and an error fueled a two-run bottom of the seventh for UBC to put the Thunderbirds back in front. British Columbia shut down the Warrior offense and added a run in the eighth to earn the victory.
