INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – LC State Men's Tennis, receiving votes in the NAIA poll, battled through a tough contest against No. 16 Marian (Ind.) but fell 6-1 on Friday.
The Warriors earned the doubles point to take an early lead in the match.
Giacomo Moreira and
Pablo Herrera won the top match 6-3 and
Gautam Balakrishnan teamed up with
Leonel Gatti for the same score in No. 3 doubles.
Nell Rollin and
Rafael Bonnet de Larbogne were ahead 4-3 in the second match before play was paused with the clinch.
Bonnet de Larbogne battled through three sets in his No. 2 singles matchup for the most tightly contested match. After a loss in his first set, he took the second before being edged in the third for a 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 loss.
Rollin won his first set in the fifth singles spot of his shortened match. With the score tied after two sets, his opponent took the deciding set 10-6 for a 6-7(0-7), 6-2, 10-6 final score. Gatti also went three sets before he dropped the No. 6 contest 6-0, 5-7, 10-3.
