LEWISTON, Idaho – No. 4 LC State and No. 24 British Columbia pushed their contest to the wire in game five of the 2026 Cascade Conference Baseball Championship, presented by U.S. Bank. The Warriors fell behind early but manufactured runs to edge the Thunderbirds 2-1.
LC State pitching was clutch for the second straight postseason game as
Mason Goodson,
Jackson Cloud and
Zach Elsos combined to limit the potent UBC offense to one run.
The Warriors advance to the conference tournament title game on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Harris Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Mason Goodson allowed one run through his first five innings before LC State evened the contest in the top of the sixth.
Izzy Madariaga got the offense going for the Warriors, the designated visitors in the game, in the inning and
Bryce Johnson doubled to put both in scoring position.
Jackson Reed tied things up with a sacrifice fly.
LC State took the lead in the top of the seventh.
Ryan Prescott walked to start the frame and
Cade Westerlund singled. A sacrifice bunt by
Payton Smith led to a fielder's choice that loaded the bases and another fielder's choice off the bat of
Sam Weber drove in a run for a 2-1 edge.
Goodson struck out a pair to get the Warriors out of a jam in the bottom of the seventh and
Jackson Cloud worked a scoreless eighth inning.
Zach Elsos closed out the contest in the bottom of the ninth and worked around a bases-loaded jam to earn the save.
STAT RECAP
Warrior pitching allowed just one run in the contest and Goodson earned his sixth win of the season with six punchouts in seven innings. Cloud allowed just one hit in his frame and Elsos earned the save with two strikeouts in the final inning.
Madariaga had two hits in the game and scored the game-tying run in the sixth. Weber drove in the winning run in the seventh.
UP NEXT
LC State advances to the CCC title game on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The Warriors' opponent will be determined in the 11 a.m. contest at Harris Field.
