LEWISTON, Idaho – Twelve different Warriors collected a dig and 10 different Warriors tallied a kill in a dominant sweep of The Evergreen State College (Wash.) on Friday. No. 11 LC State Volleyball took the match behind set scores of 25-13, 25-19, 25-12.
LC State dealt a season-high 11 service aces with four by
Ella Stosich, three from
Kadence Moore and two by
Makenzie Stout.
The win improves the Warrior record to 10-1 on the season and 4-1 in Cascade Conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Mikale Roy and
Taylor Boyce each notched a kill to go with a block by
Addison Wilson for a quick 4-0 lead in the first set. A swing by
Hadyn Smith sparked an eight-point run that was capped by four straight aces by Stosich for a 12-1 advantage, and TESC errors moved the score to 19-9.
Kendall Focht served an ace before back-to-back kills by
Karissa Lindner ended the frame 25-13.
An ace by Moore and kills by Boyce and Wilson gave the Warriors a 3-0 start to the second set before a kill by Boyce and block by Lindner and Smith made it 7-2. The Geoducks rallied to tie the set 12-12 before a kill by Smith and block by Boyce and Wilson pushed the margin back to 16-12. A swing by Smith started a four-point rally for a 20-14 lead, then kills by Lindner and Roy had the score at set point, 24-16. Roy closed out the frame with a kill at 25-19.
Alba Carpena opened the third set with a kill and another ace by Moore made it 3-0. Carpena and
Michaela Romine added kills and an ace from
Hannah Dotson moved the lead to 6-3. Focht dumped a ball over the net for a kill to kick-start a six-point stretch that featured two straight aces by Stout, a block by
Helena Stewart and
Aubree Lane and a kill by Lane to make it 13-5. Swings by Lane, Lindner and Romine fueled a long stretch that saw the advantage grow to 21-9. Romine tallied three more kills before
Kate Schneider ended the match with a kill at 25-12.
STAT RECAP
Boyce led the match with seven kills to go with two blocks, and Lindner tallied seven points with four kills, a solo block and four block assists. Roy added six kills with a .455 attack percentage. Smith had five kills in two sets played and Romine notched five in just one set.
Scott led the setters with 14 assists and Focht added 12. Stosich led the back row with 10 digs while Stout and Moore each collected six.
LC State hit .333 as a team and held Evergreen to .012.
Sophia Scroggins led the Geoducks with seven kills and Riley Mangan dished out 12 assists. Paron Holmes collected 11 digs and Bright Brubaker put up four blocks.
