CJ Johnson enters his seventh season as a member of the Lewis-Clark State Men’s Basketball coaching staff and second as Associate Head Coach in 2025-26.
Johnson's duties on staff include player development, recruiting, game and practice preparation, fundraising and academic oversight. He also oversees the Warriors’ strength and conditioning program. Through his first five seasons on staff, the Warriors accumulated a 111-38 record (.745), and qualified for the NAIA Men’s Basketball National Tournament four times, including the program's first-ever appearance in the National Championship game in 2021. In 2023-24, he helped the Warriors to a 24-9 season where LC State won the NAIA First and Second Rounds to advance to the Round of 16.
Johnson played basketball at Whitworth University (NCAA DIII) under head coach Matt Logie. He became a student assistant during his senior year due to injuries. During his time in Spokane, the Pirates went 94-11 (.849 win pct.) and made the NCAA DIII National Tournament each season he played.
As an assistant on Whitworth’s staff, Johnson was responsible for advanced scouting, skill development, film review, social media marketing, helping with recruiting and assisting in all day-to-day operations. He graduated from Whitworth in May of 2019 with a degree in Communications, and obtained his Master’s degree from Wayne State College in Organizational Management with an emphasis in Sports Administration in August of 2020.
Johnson resides in Lewiston with his wife, Tiffany.
