The Lewis-Clark State volleyball team is heading to Billings, Mont., with the hopes of carrying the momentum from last Saturday's victory into their Frontier Conference match against Rocky Mountain. The Battlin' Bears (14-6, 5-1) are second in the league as the teams head into the second half of the conference schedule. Rocky Mountain leads the league in three statistical categories (kills per set, assists per set and digs per set) and is tied for the lead in a fourth - blocks per set. The Warriors (7-10, 1-4) have battled consistency but found a groove last Saturday with a three-set victory at Montana State Northern.
The Warriors have been led this fall by juniors
Rachel Gregg, who is third in the conference in kills per set with 3.0;
Lauren West, who is tied for third in assists per set with 7.4, and
Luana Thompson, who is fourth in digs per set with 4.6. Gregg has had nine matches with 10 or more kills, which includes season highs of 16 against Montana-Western and Dickinson State. West, with a high of 45 against Merced, has nine matches with 20 or more assists, while Thompson has season dig high of 25 (five sets against Dickson State), 24 (four sets twice), and 15 (three sets vs. Dordt).
LCSC is off next week before returning to action Homecoming Weekend with matches against Carroll College (Friday, Oct. 21, 7 p.m.) and Montana Tech (Saturday, Oct. 22, 2 p.m.).
