LEWISTON, Idaho – Lewis-Clark State's volleyball team recorded its sixth sweep of the season with Thursday night's 25-19, 25-17, 25-20 Frontier Conference victory over Montana State-Northern at the Activity Center.
"We ran our offense pretty well," coach
LaToya Harris-Alexander said after the Warriors extended their win streak to three and improved to 10-13 overall, 4-7 in league play. "We hit above .300 each set. That was fun to see.
"We had some players who stepped up tremendously for us today."
Count in that group the ever-consistent
Rachel Gregg, who had a team-best 15 kills (while pounding the ball at a .387 clip) and 13 digs.
Natalie Batiste joined her in the power game with 11 kills off of a .417 hitting percentage.
Lauren West matched Gregg with 13 digs, while handing out 40 assists.
Those efforts helped the Warriors to a team hitting percentage of .317 with 49 kills in contrast to MSU-Northern's .198 hitting percentage and 29 kills.
"We've been focusing on staying on an even keel," Harris-Alexander said. "Just attacking and not panicking."
That mentality helped LCSC weather a handful of runs by the Skylights, who now are 9-16 overall and 3-8 in league play.
"Once we stayed controlled and stayed even that's when we were able to side-out and keep the run going we have before," Harris-Alexander said.
The Warriors close the regular season Saturday at 2 p.m. when they take on Providence at the Activity Center. It will be Senior Day for four Warriors – Batiste,
Justine Cota Culp,
Aly Sauer and
Maya Williamson.
