The Thunderbirds own a 4-1 record against the Warriors this season. LCSC has never lost more than four times in a season to the same opponent in school history.
In Game 1, UBC struck early against
Kevin Hamann. An RBI single and RBI groundout gave the Thunderbirds a 2-0 lead after the first inning.
Evan Douglas tallied an RBI groundout to give the Warriors their first run of the game in the fourth inning. But UBC erupted for three in the bottom half of the inning. Two singles totaled three runs.
JJ Robinson got in the mix with a solo homer in the sixth inning as LCSC inched closer. Robinson also homered in the eighth, cutting their deficit to one run. But the Warriors went 1-2-3 in the ninth to foil the comeback.
Robinson led the team with 3 RBI going 3-4 from the dish. Hamann was dealt his first loss of the season. He lasted six innings allowing 10 hits and six earned runs with two strikeouts.

Those runs were the only ones scored in the game for LCSC. The Thunderbirds scored their set of runs in one inning as well, in the third. UBC was able to get to Game 2 starter
Connor Brogdon, giving him his first loss of the season as well. Brogdon threw seven innings allowing eight hits and the three runs. He struck out four and didn't allow a walk.
In the ninth inning,
Matt Thompson led off with a single through the left side.
Emilio Alcantar pinch-ran for Thompson, who advanced to second on a sac bunt from
Chase Hafer. Alcantar later advanced to third on a wild pitch with one out in the inning.
Marten Pauwels reached on an error by the shortstop, giving the Warriors hope with runners on the corners.
Tyler McDowell then grounded out to a pitchers dream, a 6-3 double-play to end the game for LCSC.
The two teams will be back at it with another doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
