No. 8 Baseball Takes Care of No. 2 Georgia Gwinnett

Box Score LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The LCSC baseball team scored 12 runs on 15 hits and defeated hosts and No. 2 Georgia Gwinnett 12-3 Thursday night.

Cooper Goldy led the Warriros with three hits. Five players tallied at least two hits.

LCSC looked to get on the board early in the second inning. J.J. Robinson started the inning with a walk followed by a Seaver Whalen single. Another walk eventually loaded the bases but Goldy struck out with the bases loaded as the Grizzlies held the Warriors scoreless.

However, in the next inning, the Warriors got on the board with two runs. Robinson singled home Raymond Pedrina and Whalen's sac fly brought home Logan Griffin.

The Warriors grabbed a run in the sixth before the Grizzlies tied the game in the bottom of the inning with three runs off of LCSC starter Kevin Hamann.

Hamann was later pulled in the inning after throwing 5.2 innings, allowing five hits, three runs, none earned, while striking out six.

The Warriors answered in the top half of the seventh with four runs. Brock Ephan hit an RBI double and Micah Brown followed with an RBI triple. Goldy and Pedrina both hit RBI singles to end the scoring in the inning. The Warriors erupted in the ninth and put the game away with five runs in the inning.

Henry McAree earned the win in relief. He tossed 3.1 innings and allowed just one base runner. McAree struck out five to seal the deal.

The two teams will meet again this weekend tomorrow at 4 p.m. but the Warriors first will play Madonna University starting at noon.
