Box Score 2 LEWISTON, Idaho – The LCSC baseball team scored 19 runs in the doubleheader sweep against Saint Katherine on Saturday, winning 16-0 in Game 1 and taking the nightcap 3-2.
With the wins, the Warriors improve to 26-12 on the season. The Firebirds drop to 17-19.
JJ Robinson exploded in the DH hitting three homers and driving in eight.
Connor Brogdon earned the win in Game 1. He threw seven innings and allowed just four hits and a walk while striking out 10 to improve to 5-1 on the season.
The Warriors started the scoring in the second with two runs from a single by
Emilio Alcantar and a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch from
Micah Brown. Griffin tripled home
Gunnar Buhner in the third and later scored on a passed ball.
Leading 8-0 in the seventh, Brown delivered another RBI single.
Seaver Whalen then tallied an RBI groundout before Robinson hit his first homer of the game. JJ launched a 2-run shot to dead-center for his 11th homer of the year. The next inning he topped his homer in the seventh with a grand slam, his 12th longball of the year, to end all scoring.
Saint Katherine stuck first in Game 2 off LCSC starter
Matt Fish. An RBI ground out and a sac fly gave the Firebirds a 2-0 lead after the first inning.
LCSC finally got on the board in the fourth inning with an RBI double by Buhner. Robinson gave the Warriors the lead in the sixth with his third homer of the day, his 13th on the year.
The Warriors scored their three runs on four hits. The Firebirds registered their two runs on six hits. Fish hurled 7.1 innings allowing five hits, two earned runs, and striking out eight.
Anthony Balderas entered the eighth for 1.2 innings of work for his third save of the season.
LCSC and Saint Katherine will play one final game on Sunday to end the four-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 10 a.m.
