Box Score 2 SALEM, Ore. – The LCSC baseball team defeated both games against Corban on Friday. One was from a halted game back in March while the other was a regularly scheduled contest.
LCSC won the halted game 6-2 and won 5-3 in the nightcap to improve to 33-12 overall and 20-7 in NAIA West play.
The Warriors were up 4-0 in the third before rain delayed the game for over a month.
Seaver Whalen started the scoring on Friday with an RBI single. Corban added answered with a run in the fifth and seventh inning.
Hayden Meier ended all scoring of the game with an RBI single of his own.
Tyler Burch pitched all seven innings of the continuation allowing seven hits, two runs, one earned, striking out three while walking four. Burch relieved
Connor Brogdon who pitched the first two innings before the game was called in March.
Brogdon got the start in Game 2 but lasted just five innings and allowed six hits and three runs, two earned, with a walk and eight strikeouts. He was relieved by
Anthony Balderas who was credited with the win throwing four innings of relief allowing just one hit and a walk with seven strikeouts.
Corban got the Brogdon in the third inning. They tallied two runs off a single and an error to take the 2-0 advantage. LCSC grabbed the lead a half inning later. JJ Robinson tallied an RBI groundout and
Gunnar Buhner hit a 2-RBI double to take a 3-2 lead.
The score was later tied at 3-3 in the fifth, followed by three scoreless innings from both teams.
Whalen broke the tie in the ninth with two more RBIs and Balderas shut the door.
The two teams will continue the 5-game series tomorrow with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
