Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Warriors sweep WWU

LEWISTON, Idaho – Lewis-Clark State's volleyball team held true to its motto Friday night.

"We focus on getting better every time we touch the ball," said coach LaToya Harris-Alexander, whose team did just that in continually building momentum en route to a 25-16, 25-13, 25-10 victory over Walla Walla University at the LC Activity Center.

" 'I want to be better than what I just did.' They were for sure better tonight."

The Warriors improved to 4-6 with the decisive victory in their first home match of the season. Saturday evening at 5, they take on Whitman College in another non-conference game as LCSC celebrates National Teddy Bear Day. Fans who bring a new Teddy Bear to the game will be admitted without charge and the bears will be donated to the Lewis-Clark Early Childhood Program.

As for Friday night, Natalie Batiste and Rachel Gregg led a balanced attack with 21 kills each, while hitting matching .429s. Maya Williamson added 15 kills off a .400 attack percentage as LCSC compiled a commendable .358. Defensively, Luana Thompson had 14 digs and Jordan Phelan had 13, and Anna Ingraham had 20 assists.

It was Ingraham who made a difference Friday night.

"She took control of the court," Harris-Alexander said. "Her fire and energy brought the energy up everywhere."

The Warriors ability to dominate didn't surprise their coach.

"I have high expectations of my team," she said. "I knew if they stayed disciplined and trusted the system, they could do it."
