LEWISTON, Idaho –
Jossilyn Blackman had her first double-double of the season to pace Lewis-Clark State College's women's basketball team to a 77-61 Frontier Conference victory over Montana State-Northern Thursday evening at the Activity Center.

The Warriors improved to 12-4 overall and 3-2 in league play behind a team effort that included four players in double figures and a 30-point first quarter during which they shot 72.2 percent from the field. MSUN is 9-8 overall and 1-4 in league play.

"We got off to a great start," coach
Brian Orr said. "We really attacked. We ran the floor extremely well. We moved the ball and found the open player."

Blackman and
Peyton Souvenir both had eight points in the high-scoring first quarter that wound up with the Warriors leading 30-16. They expanded their lead to 47-24 at the half – in part by continuing to work within their offense and in part with a defensive effort that led to just eight points for the Skylights.

As lopsided as the score was, so too, was the Warriors' dominance on the boards. By halftime, they had a 22-13 edge. By game's end, it was 45-32.

"We made a concerted effort to do a better job on the boards," Orr said. "They did rebound well tonight."

That being said, he would have a liked a tidier second half.

"I was happy with the first half; disappointed in the second half," Orr said. "It feels good to put 30 up in a quarter but we didn't maintain it.

"It's always good to get a win but, honestly, we have a lot of work to do."

Joining Blackman in double figures were
Jansen Edmiston with 11, and Souvenir and
Abbie Johnson with 10 each. Souvenir also had eight assists and Johnson had nine rebounds.
Brittany Tackett finished with eight boards.

The Warriors take on Providence Saturday afternoon at 2. Providence comes to Lewiston with a 13-3 overall record (4-1 in league play) after a 53-39 victory at Montana Western Thursday.
