LEWISTON, Idaho – Lewis-Clark State College's women's basketball team ran into a buzz saw Saturday in the form of the University of Providence. The Argos took the first lead and never trailed in winning the Frontier Conference game 73-56 at the Activity Center.

"I like the way our girls fought the whole time," coach
Brian Orr said. "The ball just wasn't going in."

The Warriors, already down two players with injury, were dealt a harsh blow less than 90 seconds into the game when
Jansen Edmiston – one of three players with a double-figure scoring average, went down and was lost for the remainder of the game.

Providence, 14-3 overall and 5-1 in league play, led by double digits for most of the game as the Warriors (12-5, 3-3) struggled to find their rhythm.

"I was just disappointed we couldn't convert anything," Orr said. "We just couldn't get any flow on offense."

The reasons were threefold: the disruptions in the lineup caused by injury, players trying too hard to make things happen, and the Argos.

"We were confident we were going to be able to play our game," Orr said, "but Providence kept us from doing that. I thought they executed very well offensively."

Not only did the Warriors have more than their share of shooting woes, they uncharacteristically had 14 turnovers.

"Sometimes when you get down, everybody tries too hard," Orr said. "It's OK to have it on defense but when you're on offense, you need to have some poise, you need to have some control."

Senior
Brittany Tackett had her best game of the season with 19 points and six rebounds. Fellow post
Jossilyn Blackman added 13 points with five rebounds.
Kiara Burlage was the Warriors rebound leader with seven.

LC is home Thursday against Rocky Mountain. Tipoff in the first game of the doubleheader with the Warrior men is 5:30 p.m.
