LEWSTON, Idaho - The Lewis-Clark State Warriors remained undefeated on the new season, defeating Concordia 6-0 at Harris Field Friday. The Warriors, winners of their first three games, held on to a 1-0 lead until the fifth inning, then brook loose for five runs in the eighth inning.
Kasey Bailey's third-inning single put LC ahead, and starting pitcher
Justin Hammergren did the rest. Hammergren picked up his second victory of the season, going six innings, striking out six and allowing just three hits. Hammergren twice recorded inning-ending strikeouts with Cavaliers at third base.
Kade Woods, and
Gage Burland finished up the mound duties, giving up only one hit in the final three innings.
LC broke loose in the eighth inning after starting pitcher Kaleb Jones walked leadoff batter
Raymond Pedrina.
Joey Parente and
Cory Voss each had RBI singles, and
Kyle Callahan's two-run single brought home the Warriors final tallies.
Makana Victorine and Bailey each had two hits for the Warriors, who outhit Concordia 8-4.
The Warriors and Cavaliers play a doubleheader at noon Saturday, and finish up the four-game series Sunday at noon.
