Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | Alisha Alexander

Blackman Joins the 1000-Point Club

LEWISTON, Idaho – Jossilyn Blackman found herself in good company after Saturday's Lewis-Clark State women's basketball game, despite the 68-58 loss to No. 22 Rocky Mountain College. At the 5:23 mark in the third quarter, the senior became a member of the 1,000-Point Club.

"Right now Jossilyn is our most consistent rebounder, and definitely our most consistent scorer," coach Brian Orr said. "One thousand points in her career obviously makes an impact in our program."

The Battlin' Bears took a commanding 26-11 lead after a big first quarter and led 36-23 at the end of the first half.

Similar to Thursday's matchup, LC found some momentum in the fourth quarter and outscored Rocky 22-17, but it proved to be too little, too late.

Trailing 51-36 heading into the final 10 minutes, Delaney Henery drained a free throw to get things going for the Warriors. Emily Banks and Blackman went back-to-back with baskets to cut the deficit to 10 at 51-41 with 8:26 on the clock.

A pair of free throws from Abbie Johnson cut the Battlin' Bears' lead to five with under a minute to play, but that is as close as LC would get.

"Our inability to make shots is killing us," Orr said. "We didn't have the intensity and tonight Rocky was definitely the better team."

Henery led the scoring for LC with 14 points. She was 6-for-7 from the charity stripe and 4-for-7 from the field. Johnson tallied 10 points and Turner grabbed a team-best nine boards.

Blackman's big night did not start until the second half. After finishing the first half without scoring, she put up 13 in the second, with her third point of the night being number 1,000. She is the 19th Warrior to hit the mark in the women's basketball program, and the first since Brittany Tackett who was honored tonight at halftime for her own milestone.

Alecia Chamberlain and Kloie Thatcher led Rocky with 19 points and seven rebounds each. The Battlin' Bears outshot the Warriors 42.9 percent to 34.9 percent and held LC to just one 3-pointer.

The Warriors continue the home stand next weekend when they host No. 13 Providence on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and MSU-Northern on Saturday at 2 p.m.
