Mitchell Named Frontier Conference Player of the Week

WHITEFISH, Mont. – After dropping a career-high 39 points on Saturday, No. 10 Lewis-Clark State College sophomore Damek Mitchell was named the Frontier Conference Player of the Week. He scored a total of 59 points in two games to earn the honor.

His 39 points on Saturday are the sixth-most scored by a men's basketball player at LC, and the most since E.J. Farris dropped 41 in the 2013-14 season. He was 14-23 from the field, with his 14 field goals ranking 10th in the LC record books and his 23 attempts coming in tied for third.

For the weekend, Mitchell averaged 29.5 points per game and was 21-36 from the field. He was 10-15 from 3-point range and 7-11 from the free throw line.

The Bellingham, Wash. native is currently third in NAIA DI in total assists (93) and fourth in assists per game (6.20), both bests in the Frontier Conference.

"Damek is certainly playing at a high level this year so it is great to see him recognized," Head Coach Austin Johnson said. "He is a big part of what makes us good on offense and on defense, so we rely on him heavily."

The Warriors host their first home games of 2019 this weekend. They face No. 3 Carroll College on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and Rocky Mountain College on Saturday at 4 p.m.
