Warriors Lose to Carroll in Home Finale

LEWISTON, Idaho – Credit Carroll College, Lewis-Clark State women's basketball coach Brian Orr said after his 17th-ranked Warriors lost 65-44 to the eighth-ranked Saints.

"We got beat by a better team," said Orr, whose team dropped to 18-7 overall, 8-6 in Frontier Conference play with its four remaining regular-season games all on the road.

"We weren't very effective offensively. We didn't guard. We didn't have a balanced attack. I don't think we were ready to play from the get-go."

On a day when three Warriors seniors were honored before the game, LC struggled to find rhythm and flow. While the Warriors forced four turnovers in the first four minutes, they converted on just one and the quarter ended with the Saints leading 12-10. By halftime, Carroll had stretched its lead to 34-21 after shooting 60 percent from the field in the second period.

The Saints' hot-shooting continued with a 63.64 percent effort in the third, which included six-of-seven from 3-point range, and led to a 58-33 lead heading into the final 10 minutes. For the game, Carroll shot 48.9 percent (23 of 47) from the field and 52.2 percent (12 of 23) from 3-point range.

"We were giving up wide-open 3s," Orr said. "Against a team like this, you just can't let that happen."

Carroll also dominated on the boards, 38-25, and shutdown the Warrior's inside game. Only Jossilyn Blackman reached double figures with her 10 points as LC managed just 32.1 percent from the field and 27.8 percent from 3-point range.

"I'm telling you, we are so much better than what we played tonight," Orr said. "But you have to give them credit. They're a good team."

Carroll used its overall effectiveness to sweep the three-game regular-season series from the Warriors. Danielle Wagner led the Saints with 18 points, with Jaidyn Lyman contributing 14 and Hannah Dean 11. Sienna Swannack had 11 rebounds.
