MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Warriors opened their road trip with a midweek matchup against NCAA DII Western Oregon and fell 11-2. They now turn their attention back to Cascade Conference play and will face Corban on Saturday and Sunday.
Zach Needham got the game started with a single to right center before taking second on a wild pitch.
Kyle Callahan reached on an error and took second on a wild pitch to put two in scoring position.
Kody Garvin walked to load the bases but the Warriors could not convert.
The Wolves struck first with a run in the home half of the first to take a 1-0 lead.
Darren Trainor erased a base runner in the bottom of the second when he fired a strike to
A.J. Davis for the second out of the inning.
Tyler Burch struck out a batter on the next pitch to end the inning.
WOU added another run in the bottom of the third to push their advantage to 2-0. The Warriors left the bases loaded again in the top of the fourth.
Jesus Duran laid out to take a base hit away from the Wolves in the fourth and Burch collected another punch out to send the Warriors back to the plate.
Davis, Callahan and Garvin all walked to load the bases. Bart took a pitch off his helmet to plate the first Warrior run of the ballgame.
WOU continued to grow their lead to a 6-1 advantage after seven.
Riley Way tripled to start the eighth and scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Needham to cut the deficit to 6-2.
The Wolves answered back in the home half of the inning with five runs to take a commanding 11-2 lead.
Bart led off the top of the ninth with a double to center and advanced to third on a fly out by
Jaden Phillips, but that is where he would stay as WOU took the contest 11-2.
Way led LC with two hits including a triple. The Warriors left 16 runners on base.
LC faces Corban on Saturday and Sunday in a pair of doubleheaders. Saturday's twin bill begins at noon.
