LEWISTON, Idaho – Coach Austin Johnson sees vast potential in Brennen Newsom. So much so, he signed him to his Lewis-Clark State College men's basketball roster as a future impact player.
 
"We are extremely excited to add a player and person like Brennen," Johnson said. "He played on great teams and understands everything matters when it comes to winning.
 
"He is high energy and is excited about growing as a person and a player at LC."
 
Newsom, a 6-8 forward, was a top reserve on Sacramento's Sheldon High School and a key component of the Lakeshow AAU program. With Newsom contributing 3.4 points (off 67 percent shooting) and 3.3 rebounds per game, Sheldon went 24-11, won the D1 Sectional championship, the NorCal Open Division championship, and was the Open Division state runner-up.
 
"We believe, in time, he will be an impact forward as his desire to be great combines with the developmental resources our program provides," Johnson said. "Brennen values the core principles of our program in a way that will allow him to reach his full, vast potential."
