CORVALLIS, Oregon – Two Lewis-Clark State Warriors were named Cascade Conference Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Players of the Week after a combined 3-1 week for LC State Basketball. Damek Mitchell earned the honor after helping the Warrior men to a pair of victories over NCAA DIII No. 19 Whitworth, and Abbie Johnson garnered recognition after the women's basketball team upset No. 6 Carroll College on Sunday.
Mitchell earned the honor for the second time this season. He averaged 14 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists in back-to-back road wins over the NCAA DIII top-20 team. He joined the program's top 10 in all-time scoring over the weekend with 1,091 points. He is also third all-time in 3-pointers made with 154.
Johnson earned the honor for the first time in her career after notching a double-double in the upset victory over Carroll. She fell one rebound short of a double-double in the first game of the two-contest set, totaling 10 points and nine rebounds. On Sunday, the forward posted 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
