Lewiston, Idaho – Lewis-Clark State Women's Basketball Head Coach Brian Orr announced the signing of Northwest Christian High School's Ellie Sander on Tuesday, making her the second addition to the 2021 recruiting class, joining Audrey Miller (Adair Village, Ore.). The guard out of Spokane, Wash. will join the Warriors in the fall.
"I can't tell you how excited we were when Ellie called to tell us that she chose LC State to continue her academic and athletic career," Orr said. "She is absolutely the real deal."
The 5-10 guard was Northwest Christian's leading scorer last season, averaging 14.2 points per game. She also led the team in rebounding, blocked shots, field goals made, 3-point field goals made and free throws made.
"Ellie is a do-it-all player who has the ability to make the big play on both ends of the floor," Orr explained. "She has a passion for the game and is all about becoming a great basketball player and playing in a winning program."
Sander is a two-year captain at NCHS and has been a starter for her entire high school career. In the classroom, she maintains a 3.97 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society. She also played soccer and softball and helped the softball team to a State Championship.
"She is a freakishly good athlete, the best on the team by far and is a quiet but fierce competitor," high school coach Geoff Tibbetts said. "She is very smooth, too. She wants the ball in her hand at the end of the game and that is best place to have it. She has had tremendous growth in her shooting over the summer. She is hard working and committed; dedicated to the game and to getting better. She will be a great addition to the program."
