LEWISTON, Idaho – Brooks Juhasz notched his first win in an LC State uniform on Sunday after giving up just three hits in the 11-3 victory over the College of Idaho. The Warriors completed the four-game sweep of the Yotes behind three hits from Jack Johnson, and three RBI from Dalton Harum.
"Brooks was great today," coach Jake Taylor said. "I was real proud of him. He deserved it. He's worked for it, nobody works harder than him and he gave us a great effort on the mound."
The College of Idaho starter silenced the Warrior bats through the first two innings, but that didn't stop LC State from getting on the board. Brock Ephan reached on a drop-third strike, and Riley Way drew a walk. Luke White advanced both on a fly ball. Zach Needham brought in the first run of the game on an RBI groundout.
Johnson grew his hitting streak to 16 games with a single up the middle in the bottom of the third, then went all the way around to third on a wild pitch. He scored on another wild pitch.
Brooks Juhasz continued his strong start, striking out a pair in the top of the fourth.
The Warrior offense exploded in the home half of the fifth, putting up a six spot with two outs. Johnson doubled to get the momentum going, and a groundout by Aidan Nagle moved him to third. Ephan singled to drive in Johnson, then reached second when Way took first on an error. A walk to White loaded the bases, then Needham walked to bring in a run. Harum doubled to clear the bases and make it 8-0 after five.
Johnson stayed hot at the plate with a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth.
Cole Acosta took over on the mound in the seventh and gave up three runs. The Warrior responded quickly, putting up two more in the bottom of the inning. An error put Harum on first, and Jackson Fuller doubled to make it 10-3. Alex Light took over on the bases for Fuller and scored on an error.
Luke Tedrick closed the game out in the ninth with a strikeout.
Johnson led the Warriors with three hits, while Harum knocked in a team-leading three runs.
Juhasz earned his first win as a Warrior after going six innings and striking out five. He did not allow a run or walk a batter.
The Warriors continue their stretch of home games next weekend when they host Oregon Tech on Saturday and Sunday.
