LEWISTON, Idaho – LC State Basketball opens its first full season in the Cascade Conference on Tuesday with contests at Walla Walla University. Following the CCC matchup, the two teams will head to non-conference tournaments over the holiday weekend.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

The Warrior women (3-0) open the 2021-22 CCC season at Walla Walla on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. LC State is 8-1 overall against the Wolves, having lost just the first matchup in 1977. The Warriors did not face WWU again until 2007 and have won eight straight. The Warrior women last faced Walla Walla in 2019 and picked up a 65-48 victory.

LC will travel to Rocklin, Calif. for the William Jessup Tournament on Nov. 26 and 27 to face William Jessup (Calif.) and Pacific Union College (Calif.). The LC Warriors open with the hosting WJU Warriors on Friday at 5 p.m., and take on the Pioneers of PUC on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

Heidi Sellmann currently leads the Warriors in scoring with a 13.3 points per game average. Sara Muehlhausen leads the defense with 11 boards per contest, and Maddie Holm is shooting a team-best 54.2 percent from the floor. 

MEN'S BASKETBALL

The No. 19 LC State Men’s Basketball team (5-0) is 27-1 overall when facing Walla Walla and has won 24 straight since its only loss to the Wolves in 2007. The Warriors last faced WWU in 2019 and picked up a 93-66 victory. They tip off on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Following the first CCC game of the season, LC will head to Salem for the Corban Classic on Nov. 26 and 27. The Warriors take on Portland Bible College on Friday at noon before facing Ottawa (Ariz.) on Saturday at noon.

Kevin Baker currently leads LC State with 17.3 points per game, and Oreon Courtney is averaging a team-best 7.4 rebounds per game. Sam Stockton leads the Warriors in assists (18) and steals (8) through the first five contests.
