CORVALLIS, Ore. –The LC State Warriors put together an eventful week with nearly every sport competing. With it came a great deal of success, evident by the five Warriors selected as Cascade Conference Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Athletes of the Week. This week's award winners include
Trent Sellers and
Brock Ephan from baseball,
Cole Olsen from cross country,
Anika Grogan and
Delaney Warren from track and field and
Lauren Hamm from women's golf.
Trent Sellers – Baseball Pitcher of the Week
LC State continued its hot streak this weekend by sweeping Eastern Oregon in a four-game set at home.
Trent Sellers got the nod in game 2 and took the bump for the Warriors, and he delivered. The Kennewick, Wash. native pitched five and two-thirds innings and struck out nine EOU batters. He allowed no runs on two hits in his outing.
Brock Ephan – Baseball Player of the Week
Brock Ephan contributed a good deal of run support throughout the series for the Warriors. The senior knocked in eight runs in the four games, which included a pair of home runs in game-one. Ephan stretched his team-leading hitting streak to 11 games while slugging .929 in the series.
Cole Olsen – Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Cole Olsen dominated the field of competitors once again in the Cascade Conference Championships on Friday. His win helped the Warrior men capture their first-ever Cascade Conference Championship in program history. Olsen finished the race with a time of 24:18, besting the second-place runner by 14 seconds. He has won all four races the team has raced in this season.
Anika Grogan – Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
Anika Grogan impressed yet again at the Whitworth Invitational and Multis this weekend. The Lewiston native set two school records with two second-place finishes in the field filled with NCAA DI athletes. In the 100m, the freshman broke the record she set last week (12.64) and currently No. 1 in the Cascade Conference. In the 200m, Grogan set the program record with a time of 25.67 which places her fourth in the CCC.
Delaney Warren – Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
Delaney Warren started her season with a strong individual win in the discus at the Whitworth Invitational and Multis. She bested the field of 21 athletes, mostly from NCAA DI schools, and punched her ticket to nationals with a throw of 43.27m. Her mark is the fourth-best in the NAIA this season.
Lauren Hamm – Women's Golfer of the Week
Lauren Hamm and the LC State Women's Golf squad participated in the LC State Invitational on Monday and Tuesday. The women's team took home its first team victory of the season with Hamm leading the way. The senior from Ferndale, Wash. won the event by one-stroke after shooting an 81 on day one and then improving on her score by nine-strokes by shooting an even-par, 72 on the second day.
