EAGLE POINT, Ore. – Lewis-Clark State College's
Lauren Hamm and
Carlos Davila posted solid scores on Tuesday and both finished second overall at the Oregon Tech Spring Invitational, which wrapped up Tuesday at Eagle Point Golf Course.
Hamm posted the best round of the day on the women's side with a 3-over-par 75 and wound up with a 155 total. Payton Canon of Oregon Tech led the way with a 150. Only three golfers broke 80 on Tuesday.
Kyla Currie (81),
Brooke Orr (82) and Alex Schmidt (84) all shaved at least three strokes off of their score from Monday as the Warriors finished second with a team score of 659. Oregon Tech captured the title with a 636, while Corban was a distant third at 706. Oregon Tech shot only one stroke better as a team than LC State did on Tuesday.
"Lauren played well and Kyla wound up tied for sixth so we did a lot better today," LC Coach
Kyla Lien said. "The women struggled a bit with the greens today and we just started the day too far back, 22 strokes behind.
On the men's side, Davila carried a 73 on Tuesday, which tied him for the second-lowest round of the day and gave him a 226 total over 54 holes, just two shots behind the leader.
The Warrior men improved by 13 shots Tuesday over their second-round score from Monday, but still wound up fourth overall, just four shots out of second. Oregon Tech won the tourney at 913, while Bushnell and Multnomah tied at 934 with LC State at 937.
Devon Caruso added a 76 for the Warriors.
"The guys did quite a bit better and all of our counting scores were in the 70s," Lien said.
"For the first tournament in a year, we are just so happy to be out there playing," Lien said. "I was really proud of them for the way they handled the course. They competed until the end."
