LEWISTON, Idaho Matt Breach has joined LC State athletics administrative staff as the Assistant Athletic Director, announced by the department on Wednesday. Breach worked for the Warriors during the 2014-15 school year as the Athletics Operations Manager/Assistant Sports Information Director before making stops at the University of Idaho and Colorado State.

"We are excited to have Matt back and serving in his new role," Athletic Director Brooke Henze said. "He brings a lot of experience to our department and we are thrilled to get this year started."

"I would like to thank Athletic Director Brooke Henze and the hiring committee for giving me the opportunity to return to LC State," Breach said. "This is a special place with a great history of success and where people take care of each other like family. I'm excited to be a part of that again."

His responsibilities will include oversight of all athletic operations, event management, marketing, sponsorship and collaborating with the Warrior Athletic Association to enhance the student-athlete experience at LC State. He will also serve as the Assistant Tournament Director for the Avista NAIA World Series.

Breach, who previously worked at LC State in 2014-15 as the Athletic Operations Manager/Assistant Sports Information Director, most recently served as the Athletic Facilities Manager at Colorado State University. Breach spent nearly two years at CSU and managed the daily operations of all on-campus athletic facilities, which included scheduling and facility maintenance and conversions. He also assisted with event management for select sports and assisted with a number of capital projects on campus. During his time at CSU, the athletic department purchased new batting cages and fencing for the softball program and resurfaced the outdoor tennis courts. He also assisted with the installation of LED scoreboards at the tennis facility.

Prior to CSU, Breach spent four years working at the University of Idaho as the Assistant Athletic Events Manager. He worked closely with internal and external constituents to coordinate gameday operations for all on-campus athletic events. This entailed supervision of event set-up and strike, in-game administration, accommodating visiting teams and officials, and the coordination of student staff, vendors, security and emergency responders. Breach also assisted with the planning and development phase for the Idaho Central Credit Union Arena, the university's new basketball facility.

During his time at Idaho, Breach also helped with two national postseason tournaments. He was the Game Operations Coordinator for the regional rounds of the 2018 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament in Spokane, Wash. He also served as the Practice Coordinator for the first and second rounds of the 2016 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament in Spokane.

Before working in college athletics, Breach spent five years as a sports journalist. He worked at the Lewiston Tribune, covering high school and college sports in the region.

Breach, who played basketball at Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton, Ore., graduated from the University of Idaho in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in journalism. He also earned a master's degree in athletic administration from Gonzaga University in 2014.

Breach and his wife, Shawnna, live in Clarkston.
