LEWISTON, Idaho - The LC State Volleyball team won its third consecutive match Saturday evening with its defeat of The Evergreen State College Geoducks. The Warriors swept the match with scores of 25-12, 25-14, 25-14.
With the set tied 3-3 in the opening set, LC rattled off six straight points before the Geoducks could respond to take the lead 9-3. The following set started opposite of the first. Evergreen State pulled ahead 7-1 before LC started to claw back. A 16-4 run by the Warriors helped them find themselves back out in front 17-11. The span was capped off with a
Carli Berntson kill off a
Jess Ruffing assist. Evergreen responded with back-to-back points before LC kicked it into gear again with another devastating stretch, this time an 8-1 rally that gave them the set two victory, 25-14.
LC State started the third set on fire with a 5-0 advantage before the Geoducks could blink. Nelson contributed three kills in that span to cause Evergreen State to call an early timeout. The break could only stop the bleeding for so long as LC soon stretched the lead to 10 following a
Lexi Trowbridge ace and a Geoduck attack error that made the scoreboard read 15-5. Evergreen did not go away quietly as it trimmed the lead down to seven with the score at 18-11. A 7-2 stretch from the Warriors awarded them the match victory as the Geoducks were swept aside 25-14.
