CORVALLIS, Ore. – Two LC State Warriors earned Cascade Conference WVT Laboratory Athlete of the Week honors, announced by the conference on Monday. Jorgen Lie Viken was named the Golfer of the Week after winning the Corban Invitational, and Dawson Day took home Pitcher of the Week honors after striking out 13 on Saturday.

JORGEN LIE VIKEN– MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK

Viken earned his first win as a Warrior at the Corban Invitational after shooting rounds of 74 and 70. He helped the No. 12 LC State men to their fourth team title of the season, besting No. 6 British Columbia and Oregon Tech by 15 strokes. The junior matched par to finish two strokes ahead of his teammate in second place. He had 10 birdies on the day to lead the field.

This is Viken’s second conference weekly honor this season.

LC State will compete at the Cascade Conference Championships, presented by U.S. Bank, in Medford on April 25-26. 

DAWSON DAY – BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Day was lights out against the College of Idaho on Saturday. The lefty allowed just two hits in his seven shut-out innings and struck out 13. He did not allow a run in his sixth win of the season.

This is Day’s first weekly honor with the Warriors. He is the fourth different LC State pitcher to win the award this season. 

The No. 4 Warriors will take on Oregon Tech in Klamath Falls this weekend.
