WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
The No. 10 Warrior women (18-1, 13-0) picked up two wins over the weekend to extend their winning streak to 18 games. The stretch is the fourth-longest in program history and includes LC State’s 13-0 mark in Cascade Conference play. The Warriors defeated Evergreen State 90-41 and Northwest 95-53 over the weekend for the highest-scoring back-to-back games this season.
With the 13-0 record in conference play, LC State is the fastest CCC seed-clinching team since the Cascade moved to a 22-game schedule.
LC State opens the weekend on the road at College of Idaho (10-9, 5-8) in the ninth meeting with the Yotes since 2020. The Warriors are 14-0 against C of I dating back to 2007 and defeated the in-state rival 60-53 earlier this season. Maddie Holm posted a massive double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds and Sara Muehlhausen had 13 boards and four blocks. LC held the Yotes to a .286 night from the field.
Saturday’s contest will be a rematch of the closest margin of victory this season, pinning the No. 16 Eastern Oregon Mountaineers (17-2, 12-1) against the Warriors. LC is 7-4 against EOU dating back to 2006 and edged the Mounties 71-69 earlier this season by fending off a buzzer-beating 3-pointer. The game resulted in EOU’s only conference loss this season. Ellie Sander led LC with 19 points in the contest and Maddie Holm had 10 rebounds.
EOU leads the CCC in scoring (76.4), field goal percentage (.455), 3-point field goal percentage (.360), rebounding (45.9), rebounding margin (14.6), assists per game (17.6) and 3-pointer made per game (7.5). Bayley Brennan leads in 3-pointers made per game (2.8) and is 10th in the NAIA. Nationally, the Mounties lead the NAIA in rebound margin and rank ninth in 3-point field goal percentage.
LC State leads the conference in scoring margin (17.4), field goal percentage defense (.316), blocked shots per game (4.6), steals per game (11.3), turnover margin (6.79) and assist/turnover ratio (1.3). Muehlhausen leads in blocked shots per game (2.5), which is seventh nationally, and Adyson Clabby leads in assist/turnover ratio at 3.1 which is 10th in the NAIA. Nationally, LC State ranks second in field goal percentage defense and eighth in blocks per game.
The two teams are both in the top three in nearly every defensive and offensive category in the CCC, setting up a tough battle between the conference’s top two teams in the standings.
