MEN'S BASKETBALL
The LC State Men’s Basketball team is off to its best Cascade Conference since joining the conference with a 5-0 record to lead the standings. The Warrior men, 7-4 overall, have won five straight, including last weekend’s victories over Corban and Bushnell. Senior Jaedon Bradley stepped up to lead the scoring efforts with a 17-point, 11-rebound double-double on Friday and a career-high 23 points on Saturday. The Warriors face Walla Walla (3-6, 2-3) in the final game of 2023.
Wednesday’s contest against WWU is sponsored by Pepsi. The night will also play host to the WAA High School Awards. The Male Athlete of the Year, Team of the Year and Rick Hill Meritorious Service Award winner will be announced at halftime of the men’s basketball game.
“We have a big home game to cap off our conference home stretch for first semester,” Head Coach Austin Johnson said. “Our guys have been competing at a high level defensively lately, excited to see that grow. We will have to be really dialed in and stick together to give ourselves a chance.”
The Warriors defeated the Wolves 94-68 in College Place on Dec. 7 behind a career-high 18 points from freshman Alton Hamilton. Bradley added 16 points with eight rebounds and Quentin Raynor also scored 16. Ethan Ford led WWU with 25 points and Soren Dalen notched a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Dalen leads the conference in blocked shots per game (2.2) and ranks second in the CCC in rebounding (9.2 per game). Ford is second in steals per game (1.7).
LC State leads the CCC standings at 5-0, just ahead of Southern Oregon at 4-0.
