WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
The No. 9 Warrior women (22-2, 17-1) bounced back last week with wins over Walla Walla, Bushnell and Corban. LC State hits the road this weekend for its final away games of the regular season. The Warriors will make their longest trip on the Cascade Conference schedule with contests at No. 25 Southern Oregon (19-5, 15-3) and Oregon Tech (17-7, 13-5).
LC State defeated SOU 54-58 when the two met in Lewiston in January. Callie Stevens led with 20 points and Maddie Holm grabbed 10 rebounds. The Warriors hold the series record with the Raiders since 2012 at 5-4.
SOU leads the CCC in scoring defense (53.8) (eighth in the NAIA).
Stevens added 20 points against Oregon Tech as well, with 19 from Hannah Broyles and 16 from Ellie Sander, to help LC defeat OIT 79-64. The Warriors drained 13 3-pointers in the contest.
OIT leads the CCC in free throw percentage (.759) (10th in the NAIA). With four games left in the regular season, LC State and No. 16 Eastern Oregon are tied for the top spot in the CCC standings. SOU is third and OIT is fourth. The top four teams, as well as Bushnell, have clinched five of the eight spots in the conference tournament. College of Idaho and Corban are close to clinching, and there will be a battle for the eighth seed between Evergreen State, Northwest and Walla Walla.
