CORVALLIS, Ore. – Lewis-Clark State Baseball had a conference-leading seven players earn All-Cascade Conference honors and three won CCC Gold Gloves, announced by the conference office on Friday. The team also earned the CCC Team Sportsmanship Award.
The Warriors were represented on the All-CCC team by outfielders
Nick Seamons and
Carter Booth, third baseman
Dominic Signorelli, catcher
Sam Olsson, designated hitter
Isaiah Thomas and pitchers
Dallas McGill and
Greg Blackman. Seamons, Booth and
Pu'ukani De Sa each earned CCC Gold Gloves.
"We are excited and proud of all our players that are recipients of all-conference and gold glove awards this season," Head Coach
Jake Taylor said. "Well deserved for the amount of time and effort they put into continuing to improve their game. All recipients are fantastic young men as well as have represented the Valley, LC State and our program with pride and class."
Seamons leads the conference in home runs this season with 14 and leads LC State in batting average at .358. The junior leads the team with 62 hits including 10 doubles and two triples. So far this season he has driven in 37 runs, is slugging .682 and is 6-for-6 in stolen bases.
In his first season with the Warriors, Booth leads the team in runs scored with 50. The junior is second in the Warrior lineup in batting average (.352) and slugging (.683). He is tied in for the top spot in the team in on-base percentage (.469) with teammate Signorelli. The Warrior third baseman is hitting .348 with 12 doubles, four triple and nine home runs and has driven in 34 runs.
Newcomers to LC State this season, Olsson and Thomas both had an immediate impact. Olsson is tied for the team-lead in doubles with 13 and is hitting .338 on the season. The senior backstop has six home runs with 25 RBI. Thomas stepped into the designated hitter role and tallied 11 doubles and 11 home runs with 38 RBI. He leads the team in stolen bases (9) and hit-by-pitches (20).
A fifth-year senior and team leader, Blackman leads the pitching staff in ERA at 1.77 out of the bullpen. In 35.2 innings pitched, the right-hander has allowed just seven earned runs and is second on the team in strikeouts with 46. Blackman has two saves and two wins on the season with a team-best 1.07 WHIP. McGill leads the Warriors in strikeouts with 48 in 38.1 innings as a starter. The lefty has appeared in 10 games with nine starts and holds a 3-2 record. He leads the team in opponent batting average (.216).
Defensively, Booth has not committed an error this season in 88 chances. Seamons has a .978 fielding percentage, and De Sa leads in assists with 69. The second baseman has just one error in 125 total changes for a .992 fielding percentage.
