“Our team is looking forward to the second half of our conference season,” Head Coach Caelyn Orlandi said. “We haven’t seen Northwest and Evergreen since the first of December and we will face two improved teams. I am very impressed with our team’s relentless work ethic and love for sharing the basketball. We continue to improve every game and every practice.”

LC State is 6-0 against TESC dating back to 2006 and won the matchup in December 74-45. Sander scored 20 points to lead the Warriors in the contest and Sitara Byrd had six steals. Jalyn Sackrider and Abby Mundy each scored eight points for Evergreen. The Geoducks’ Jenna Glenzel leads the conference in steals per game (3.0) and Sackrider is second in blocked shots per game (1.9).

The Warriors are 8-3 against Northwest since 2003 and edged the Eagles 79-73 in November. Sander and Maddie Holm each scored 15 points, while Byrd and Stevens each added 13. Northwest’s Maya DuChesne led the contest with 26 points and is second in the CCC in minutes played per game (36.7).

TRACK & FIELD

Warrior Track and Field had a successful weekend in Moscow with nine national marks and numerous school records. With just two meets under their belts, there is still much to be done at the coming meets. LC State heads to Spokane this weekend for the Inland Northwest Invitational.

“After what was supposed to be just a ‘rust buster’ weekend, we are already looking forward to returning to The Podium,” Head Coach Mike Collins said. “The athletes should be pretty motivated and now with some more specific goals on the board, we will hopefully see some additional good marks this weekend. Right now, biggest challenge will likely be Mother Nature as a flood has made our practice facility unusable. But I have faith in my coaches and athletes to be creative and we will make this a positive, rather than a negative.”

Geraldin Correa (800m), Madigan Kelly (60m hurdles), Jennah Carpenter (high jump) and Sydnie Zywina (triple jump) all hit automatic marks at the Lauren McCluskey Memorial Open over the weekend. Emily Collins (400m), Carter Gordon (600m), Zywina (long jump) and Trenton Johnson (triple jump) all hit provisional marks and will look to improve on those this weekend.
