BREMERTON, Wash. – The Lewis-Clark State Men's Golf team used its best round of the week to move into a tie for fourth at the Thunderbird Invitational on Tuesday. The Warriors shot 294 as a team to move up from fifth to tie with Southern Oregon.
"Today was overall a better day," Head Coach
Zach Anderson said. "The men looked a lot better today. We played more of the game that we are used to seeing. This course can really beat you up, so they stayed disciplined when things went wrong. Still a lot to build on, but this will be a nice round to build off heading into Eugene next week."
Alex Navarro was the top Warrior finisher in 15
th after a round of 77. The solid mark was the highest played by LC State on the day at just 5-over.
Sophomore
Owen Pearson carded a 75 with three birdies on the day to tie for 18
th overall.
Oscar Behle,
Lucas Ortega and
Sondre Andresen each shot a 73 to tie for the best round by a Warrior on Tuesday.
Behle tied for 30
th after his 1-over round on Tuesday. After struggling through his first 18 holes, the senior bounced back well to shoot 72-73 in his final rounds. Ortega also improved greatly to move into 34
th place. He finished one stroke behind Behle with a three-round total of 230. Andresen's 73 moved the junior up nine spots on the leaderboard into a tie for 43
rd.He finished the tournament with a score of 236.
Hunter Millsap competed as an individual and tied for 51
st overall. He finished his outing with a round of 80 for a three-round total of 241.
No. 9 British Columbia won the team title behind Dylan Macdonald's staggering three-round score of 199. He finished 17-under to run away with medalist honors.
UP NEXT
The Warriors head to Eugene to compete in the Tall Timber Invitational Oct. 28-29. The non-conference event will conclude the fall season for LC State.
