WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
The No. 22 LC State Women’s Basketball team is back in action this week for a midweek matchup to kick off Cascade Conference play. The Warriors host Walla Walla (Wash.) on Tuesday at 5 p.m. with the third-annual Teddy Bear Toss at halftime.
Fans are encouraged to toss new stuffed animals onto the court during halftime of the women’s game. LC State Athletics and P1FCU have teamed up to sell limited edition sock monkeys for this year’s event that can be purchased, along with ticket bundles, at lcwarriors.com/tickets.
The Warriors (5-0) are 13-0 against the Wolves (3-3) since 2010 and defeated WWU 60-34 at home last season. Tatum Brager scored 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting and Mataya Green grabbed a game-high eight rebounds while Lindsey Wilson and Camden Barger each collected seven. Ellie Sander had four steals and three assists.
Heading into the first CCC contest, the Warriors lead the conference in scoring margin (24.8), field goal percentage (.482), total blocks (20), assists (21.4), total assists (107), steals per game (15.0), total steals (75), turnover margin (8.8) and assist/turnover ratio (1.4). Sophomore Darian Herring is tied for first in the nation with 3.2 blocks per game and Sander is fourth in steals per game (4.6). LC State is currently fourth in the NAIA in assists per game and in steals per game.
