BASEBALL

Seventh-ranked LC State Baseball swept Eastern Oregon in Cascade Conference play over the weekend to improve their record to 17-7 overall and 7-1 in CCC play ahead of a tough road trip to Oregon Tech. The Warriors are 64-8 against OIT since 2010 but dropped four of the six meetings last season. The Owls are coming off a four-game sweep of College of Idaho.

LC State defeated OIT 14-2 in the first game of the CCC tournament last season on 16 hits. Nick Seamons had three hits in the contest and drove in six runs and Pu’ukani De Sa had four knocks with four RBI. Jantzen Lucas threw three innings of shutout relief and did not allow a hit. The Owls turned the tables later in the tournament with a 5-4 victory over the Warriors.

The Warriors had a monster weekend at the plate from senior Carter Booth in which the outfielder went 8-for-15 (.533) with four doubles and two triples. Seamons hit .471 (8-for-17) and Dominic Signorelli hit two home runs.

OIT is the top Cascade Conference team in on-base percentage (.415), triples (13), walks (145), stolen bases (95) and wins (20). Korrey Siracusa leads the CCC in on-base percentage (.494), Tyler Horner leads in RBI (38) and Kyle Norton has the most stolen bases (18). OIT holds the top three and five of the top six spots in stolen bases. Bronson Chapple leads the Cascade in innings pitched (45.2) and wins (5).
