The Warriors welcome No. 2 LSU Shreveport to Lewiston for a four-games non-conference series starting on Friday. The meeting will be the first at Harris Field during the regular season between the two top-10 programs. LC State (23-9) is coming off a four-game sweep of College of Idaho while LSUS (32-3) has won nine straight.
“Exciting week with LSUS coming to town,” Head Coach Jake Taylor said. “It’s going to be a great series and we’re looking forward to hosting them.”
The weekend is sponsored by P1FCU. A limited amount of LC State Baseball cards will be handed out on Friday and fans will also be entered to win a 2024 Avista NAIA World Series souvenir shirt. Saturday is Heroes Day and Alumni Day, and LC State will host BBQ and Baseball. Fans can purchase a family pass ticket bundle that includes four tickets and four BBQ meals for $80 ($136 value). The Warriors will sign posters after the games. Those that donate to Wednesday’s Wake Up with the Warriors event will receive free entry to Sunday’s game.
Warrior Baseball holds a 3-1 record against the Pilots with three of the four meetings coming in the Avista NAIA World Series. LC State last faced LSUS in the 2023 East/West Challenge where the Warriors came away with a 6-0 win to start the season. Nick Seamons tallied a home run and a triple with three RBI in the contest.
Josh Gibson leads the Pilots in batting average so far this season at .384 and Angel Rodriguez has six home runs. Vantrel Reed has driven in 33 runs. LSUS is active on the bases with 87 stolen bags. Isaac Rohde has thrown the most innings (69.1) and holds a 1.43 ERA. The Pilots enter the weekend with a team ERA of 2.86 and team batting average of .322.
The Warriors currently lead the Cascade Conference in slugging percentage (.499), walks (166), hit batters (72) and ERA (4.71). Jack Sheward is the top player in the conference in on-base percentage (.507), Carter Booth leads in doubles (18) and Dominic Signorelli leads in home runs (12). On the mound, Shane Spencer is at the top of the CCC in opposing batting average (.194). Seamons leads the team in batting average (.358) and Signorelli is slugging .748 with 40 RBI.
