The Warrior Volleyball team put together a strong home weekend with a victory over Oregon Tech and hard-fought loss to No. 5 Southern Oregon. LC State heads into another tough weekend on the road with a 9-4 overall record and 6-2 mark in Cascade Conference play. The Warriors will face No. 7 Corban (Ore.) (10-2, 6-1) on Friday in Salem before heading to Eugene on Saturday to take on Bushnell (Ore.) (9-6, 4-3).
Corban is tied with Southern Oregon at the top of the CCC standings and LC State is fourth. Bushnell sits sixth.
Corban’s two losses of the season came at the hands of No. 8 Bellevue (Neb.) and No. 2 Eastern Oregon. The Corban Warriors dropped a five-setter to EOU last weekend after upsetting fifth-ranked SOU on the road the week before. LC State is 1-8 against Corban since 2018, including a pair of 3-0 losses last season. Juliauna Forgach Aguilar led LC with eight kills last season in Salem. Corban leads the CCC in opponent hitting percentage (.098) and Jadah Schmidtke leads the conference in attack percentage (.360). Emma Bischoff is second in service aces per set (0.55).
The Warriors are 5-7 when facing Bushnell since 2010. The Beacons took both matchups last season in four sets, despite a 17-kill performance by Forgach Aguilar in Eugene. Gianna Anderson added 12 in the contest. Amyah Semau is the top server in the CCC with 29 aces on the season.
Forgach Aguilar is fifth in the NAIA in kills per set (4.67) and leads the conference in total kills by a wide margin (238). She is 10th in the NAIA in kills and ninth in points per set (5.0).
