Efficient Offense Propels No. 11 Warriors Past Warner Pacific

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Warrior bench showed its depth on Thursday in a sweep of Warner Pacific (Ore.) on the road. No. 11 LC State defeated the Knights by scores of 25-19, 25-9, 25-9 behind a .360 attack percentage with nine different Warriors notching kills.
 
The victory improves the Warrior record to 15-4 overall and 12-4 in Cascade Conference play.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Kills by Karissa Lindner, Juliauna Forgach Aguilar and Taylor Boyce gave LC State an early 4-3 edge, and swings by Mikale Roy and Lindner made it 8-7. Warner Pacific miscues and kills by Abby Beaton and Boyce pushed the score to 17-13. Lindner, Forgach Aguilar and Michaela Romine ended the set 25-19 each with kills, with Romine's as the first of her career.
 
A kill by Forgach Aguilar and WPU errors gave LC State a 5-0 advantage before swings by Beaton and Forgach Aguilar capped the run at 7-0. Beaton, Roy and Lindner notched three straight kills and another by Roy had the lead at 11-3. Lindner teamed up with Boyce on a block before she added a kill, and another termination by Romine made it a 16-5 score. Ashlyn Watt dealt an ace, and Helena Stewart tallied her first kill of the night before points from Boyce, Roy and Lindner ended the set 25-9.
 
Kadence Moore served an ace and kills by Forgach Aguilar and Beaton put the Warriors in front 4-2 early in the third frame. Roy and Lindner put up a block before an ace by Ella Stosich and back-to-back kills and a block by Boyce kept the run alive. Another ace by Stosich and block by Lindner capped the nine-point run with LC State ahead 12-2. Kills by Boyce, Annie Goetze, Jordynn Albright, Romine and Stewart fueled the set until an ace by Moore ended the match with a 25-9 set score.
 
STAT RECAP
The Warriors held WPU to a .000 attack percentage and hit .360 as a team. Boyce led LC State with eight kills at a clip of .313, Forgach Aguilar added six (.333) and Lindner tallied six with an impressive .667 mark. Beaton hit .667 with four kills and Romine notched four at .444 in her collegiate debut.
 
Lindner led the Warriors at the net with five blocks and Boyce had three. Stosich commanded the back row with 17 digs, Kailiponi dished out 19 assists and Kendall Focht added 10.
 
UP NEXT
LC State is home for the final time in the regular season Oct. 31-Nov. 1 to host a pair of ranked teams in No. 8 Corban (Ore.) and No. 23 Bushnell (Ore.). The Warriors will celebrate Senior Night before the match on Nov. 1.
